Two young-blood debaters of the Chulalongkorn University Debating Society

Tidarat(Tida) Yingcharoen, a 2nd-year Political Science student, and Nuanpan(Pang) Ketumarn, a 1st-year B.A. in Comm Management student, made it to the semi-finals of the Macau East Asian Invitational Debating Championship held on December 11-13, 2009. Congratulations to them both and their coach, Aj. James.

Computer Graphic Students visit TCDC

Acharn Smith Boonchutima organized a visit for his 3-rd year Computer Graphics students to the Thailand Creative & Design Center located in The Emporium. The center includes huge library of books, journals and magazines as well as a massive collection of articles on design and printing from around the world, which students can access for free. Staff gave a short presentation about how to use the facilities before the students were allowed to browse on their own.

Visit to Siam Ocean World

On 20 November, Acharn Smith Boonchutima brought his 1st-year students in Introduction to Computer to Siam Ocean World at Siam Paragon. In addition to building closer relations between the new3 students, they were also shown how CAD, or computer assisted design can enhance exhibits and communication of a theme.

Nitate Inter's Journey into Thai Culture

This semester, program freshmen and exchange students visited different historically a number of important historical and cultural site in and around Bangkok, including Vinmanmek Palace, Muang Boran (Ancient City) and Siam Niramit as part of the Thai Culture course taught by Assoc. Prof. Daved Forde. These were high points of the course which is open to students from all international programs.

Exchange students activity

On October 20, 2009, Miss Supinya and Miss Sawita, B.A. Communication Management exchange students currently studying at the University of New South Wales helped promote our program at the university’s Exchange Students and Global Students Mobility Office exhibition.

Masquerade Party
 
On August 14th, Ajarn Smith Boonchutima, in his role as student advisor, hosted a masquerade party for the students of the Communication Arts English Program.

The purpose of this get together, in addition to having fun, was to give students a chance to talk together and seek advice about life on campus, personal issues, or any concerns at all with their advisor.

From all accounts, it was a very successful evening!

Nitade Nitro Night, the night of remembrance

Communication Arts English-Management students hosted the 2009 Nitade Inter Gathering party to bid farewell to the 2009 graduates.

“This was not a typical prom night as it wa not just seniors.” Said Issara Boonprasong, the event coordinator. “the propose of the event was not just to celebrate graduation but to also promote Nited Inter ’s unity and friendship among all Commarts students.”

The party took place on Sunday,May 24 at the Wrestin Sukuhumvit Hotel Bangkok with a full gathering of Commarts students from first to fourth year. 

“The party was totally awesome”admitted chuanporn Pipatseritharm, a member of the graduation class. “we were having so much fun it surely is a night of remembrance! ”

Intro to Ad Students visit Lowe worldwide

On March 24, 2009, as part of second year’s Introduction to Advertising course, 40 students were given an incredible opportunity to visit one of the world’s most renowned advertising agencies-Lowe.

Mr.Toney Prehn, the CEO of Lowe, welcomed all, Mr.Prehn gladly shared his experiences working in an advertising,  after an inspiring introduction, Ms Suchaya Pienchob, an  associate director took over and gave an exciting Lowe Credentials Presentation, which is normally shown to potential clients’ to demonstrate the company’s organizational structure and its work portfolio their clients’ lists is the most impressive with Unilever, “Coca Cola and Thai Airways leading the list Many of the Commercials shown were immediately recognized and admired, especially the Coca cola - For Everyone”  advertisement campaign.

Comm. Arts Inter Chula Students Host an Eco-project for Foreign Exchange Students to Save the Planet

Communication Management-English Program students joined hands with foreign exchange students for “Nitade Inter Eco-Trip #1” to Tambol Klongkon, Samut Songkram Province to plant mangroves on February 21, 2009.

The purpose of “Nitade Inter Eco-Trip #1” was to build closer relations among the faculty’s Thai and foreign exchange students while helping revitalize the mangrove forest ecosystem in Samut Songkram.

Based on the theme, “Our world. One world.” concept, the students’ eco-project reflects the fact that friendship has no boundaries and that together we can all help save the planet. A simple act of planting one tree can make a difference. With both friendship and collaboration, the world can become a much better place.

Nitade senior placed for Ch7 new news anchor

Pichapen is the youngest senior student to have recently won the ‘Ch.7 New News Anchor Search’ along with other 6 students, nation. She’s an example for students who take advantage of the resources around them. After her graduation in July, Pichapen will study for a Master Degree in Professional Communication at The University of Sydney, Australia. She also expects to become a Ph.D. student in Switzerland in 2010.

Two Nitade Inter students among this year's Future Journalist Award finalists

Manakorn Mekprayoonthong and Pissacha Hemvachiravarakorn, both third-year students in Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Communications Arts’ B. A. in Communication Management – English Program each received first runner-up honors during this year's Future Journalist Award competition, which is held annually in Thailand.

Each earned a one-month internship with TNN24, a 24-hour news broadcast channel, as well as the opportunity to take an advanced English language course with the British Council, the United Kingdom's international cultural and educational organization. The students were selected as two of the four finalists out of 406 students who applied from 19 institutions throughout Thailand.

The competition was sponsored by TrueVisions, BBC World News, the British Council, the Council of Mass Communication Faculty Members of Thailand (CMCT), and Thai Airways

Commarts students win special prize in the Disney Marketing Academy Award 2008

Six fourth-year students and one third-year student of the Faculty of Communication Arts, Communication Management program, Chulalongkorn University were awarded in the Disney marketing competition for the film Wall-E. The winners received 10,000 baht and certificates from Walt Disney (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

During the special round ofthe competition, the team named “NEW” competed against three other competitors from Thammasat University and Kasetsart University in a Ticket Battle at Major Cineplex, Rama 3.

“We are very proud of what we’ve done,” Mr. Polawat, only male member of the group, said. “And since this is the first competition we’ve ever joined,you can surely expect greater things from us in the future.”

Commarts Student wins a trip to US.

Narissara Chiraguna, a second year student at the Faculty of Communications Art-English program, won a national essay competition on the topic of “175 Years of Thai-U.S. Friendship.” Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Narissara was awarded a study trip to Washington, D.C. to observe the US presidential election during November 1-8.

On this trip, Narissara received first-hand experience in the US election as she visited the polling stations, headquarters of each presidential candidate, and exchanged opinions with American citizens. Along with four other winners of the competition, she gave comments at the Voice of America radio station. Moreover, she was selected to speak on the special TV program broadcasted back to the US Watch event at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok.

Apart from the election, Narissara also had the chance to visit Capitol Hill and several prestigious universities in Washington, D.C. She returned to Thailand with new knowledge and also the motivation to make wise use of her experiences and observations in the United States.

Nitade Inter Students appointed Ambassadors for ITU Telecom ASIA 2008

Seven students from the faculty of Communication Arts, English Program, Chulalongkorn University were appointed by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) to serve as NTC Pavilion Ambassadors for the ITU Telecom Asia 2008 from September 1to 5, 2008 at Muangthong Thani.

As NTC showcased its great potential during the international event in an exhibition entitled ‘Bridging the Future’ and presented Thailand’s communication history, the students together with TV host John Rattanaveroj, as NTC Ambassador, elaborated on NTC’s work as well as acted as liaisons and guides for both foreign and Thai exhibition visitors.

The seven NTC Pavilion Ambassadors were forth year students; Prae Sarasin, Polawat Pupipat, Verbenas Trisirikul, Chayanid Chuephanich, Supattra Jirapakorn and Chuanporn Pipatseritham as well as a third-year student, Manakorn Mekprayoonthong.

RMIT Representatives visit Faculty of Comm. Arts

Three representatives from the School of Applied Communication from RMIT University of Melbourne visited the Faculty of Communication Management on June 20, 2008 to strengthen the bonds and agreements between our two faculties.

A meeting was held to welcome Mr. Tim Austin, International Projects Manager , Mr. Justin Tay, Regional Recruitment Manager , and Mr. Peter Sorenson, MA and Director of the International Programs , to Chulalongkorn University, as well as to discuss the details of the exchange program; the very first academic agreement between our faculties in the upcoming semester.

Two fourth-year students, Miss Arunroj Traivorakul and Miss Pimwadee Lai, were chosen to study at RMIT as our faculty's first student ambassadors.

MOU Signing ceremony of academic agreement between the faculty of Arts Chulalongkorn University and School of Communication and Information Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

On 14 March 2008, Associate Professor Dr.Yubol Benjarongkit, dean of the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University and Dr. Ang Peng Hwa, dean of the School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Pan Pacific on Rama 4 Rd.

The agreement focuses on academic cooperation in research and faculty and student exchange programs.

The exchange program will be inaugurated with Miss Salin Haritaworn and Mr. Puttipong Lapatikan two fourth-year students selected as the first group of Chulalongkorn University students to study at Nanyang Technological University during the coming fall term.
